Submission Guidelines
What we are looking for
We are looking for well written romance shorts.
Word Count: 15-25k words, HEA required or 5k words, no “onscreen” HEA required.
If you chose the 5k route without an onscreen HEA, your story should be told exceptionally well, or introduce something new to the RMF readership.
We are trying to create a balanced anthology. If your story has zero or one sex scenes, it will be much easier to place within the anthology. A story with more than one sex scene will be harder to place.
What we are not looking for
- AI written or assisted stories. We will not accept submissions translated, written, developed, or assisted by AI tools. If we find out you used AI, you will be banned from resubmission.
- Dates. If your story consists primarily of two people talking about themselves over a meal, it is a date.
- 5k word stories should not have sex scenes.
Process
Submissions will be accepted via the Google submission form. There is only one person reviewing the submissions, there isn’t an editorial board, so if reviews fall behind we will temporarily disable form submissions until caught up. We will try to give a response to everyone who submits something.
If you include a page with your pen name and contact information it will make it easier for us to keep things organized and reach you.
Compensation and licensing
Compensation: $150
The writer should be able to accept payment via Paypal. Payment is not optional, as contract terms depend on writer payment.
Abbreviated license term: Worldwide english first publication rights for ebook, paper. The right to produce and distribute an audio. Ebook rights will be exclusive for 180 days so that we can put the book on KU, after that authors will be free to release their work to their fans as is or in an altered form.
